Thank you for this post. I hadn't heard about "Miss Bimbo."

The mind boggles. Truly hurtful stuff, in my judgment.

As the parent of a 13-year-old girl, I see the particular difficulties young women go through as they try to mature into adults. The male side I know (and knew) well, but now I understand what I always knew intellectually--that young women have their own hells to get through.

I see stuff like this Bimbo game and I feel my optimism slipping away.

But then I see these perceptive comments, and good humor to help to mock and laugh the nonsense away, and I feel better. If I'm an optimist, my students are partly to blame. :) Thanks.

that is truly despicable. stuff like this makes me soo afraid for my hypothetical future children. i hope that my daughter will be wise enough to not get sucked into any of this oppressive gender-programming, but if she heaven-forbid EVER asked me for a Bratz doll, i would say,
"No. But I'll give you anything, anythingg else- bourbon! Ferrets! Power tools! Now go play outside where nobody can brainwash you."

Wow, that's all very appalling. I can't imagine who would come up with such a thing and think that it's a good idea to teach young girls that things like breast implants are normal and necessary to be rich and popular. It's no wonder society has become so focused on body image and so many young girls are struggling with eating disorders, etc. etc. etc...Things like this are just ridiculous and I'm sure it's just the beginning.

Oh, geez, that's really creepy. I agree about the Bratz dolls--I always wondered who thought it was a good idea for little girls to want to be brats . . . But this site is worse, I think. Not the sort of lifestyle you want your kids to pretend to be living, even if it's "all in good fun."
